Dieses lange Pfingstwochenende war für SR von langen Telefonaten in Sachen Red Bull Youth America’s Cup geprägt. Das deutsche Jugendteam hat entschieden, auf eigene Faust weiterzumachen und wir wollen helfen.

Viele Leser haben uns bestürmt, ein Konto zu veröffentlichen, auf dem Spenden eingezahlt werden können. Aber dieser Vorgang muss ja seriös abgesichert sein. Deshalb haben wir Rat beim befreundeten Notar Dr. Sönke Peters eingeholt, der auch den Weg von SR begleitet.
Peters segelte auf der Farr 40 von Wolfgang Schäfer unter anderem mit Andrew Simpsons Steuermann Iain Percy. Er eröffnete uns den Weg der Einzahlungen über ein Notar-Anderkonto. Aber dafür muss jeder Spender per Post ein unterschriebenes Formular schicken. Das hielten wir gemeinsam für zu umständlich.
Auch der Weg über gängige Crowdfunding Websiten sollte möglich sein. Ein Teil der Segler macht sich derzeit schlau über die Optionen. Die Jungs werden dabei von segelnden Unterstützern mit juristischem und wirtschaftlichem Hintergrund beraten. In den nächsten Wochen soll eine neue Plattform entstehen, auf der die Kommunikation über das Projekt abläuft. Unabhängig davon wollen wir aber jetzt schnell bei SR eine Möglichkeit schaffen, Geld einzusammeln.
Peters riet uns, unser Konto dafür zur Verfügung zu stellen. Alle Überweisungen, die mit dem Stichwort Deutsches Jugend AC Team versehen sind, werden wir den Jungs zuführen. Damit die Beträge transparent verbucht werden und niemand glauben kann, dass wir unseren Bootspark erweitern, werden bei SR die Spender mit Betrag und Namen veröffentlicht. Auf Wunsch auch nur mit Initialen.
Bei der Überweisung per Kontoverbindung soll im Verwendungszweck hinter dem Stichwort die Angabe stehen, wie die Zuweisung auf SR vermerkt wird.

Bei der Zahlung per Paypal ist unter Zweck SegelReporter.com angegeben. Nach dem Eintrag eines Betrages und dem Einloggen erscheint ein Fenster “Nennung auf SR erwünscht? Wie?”. Dort kann man Deutsches Jugend AC Team eintragen und ob man mit vollem Namen oder nur mit seinen Initialien genannt werden will.

Schwierig ist die Frage der Rückabwicklung im Falle eines Scheitern des Projektes. Falls also insgesamt nicht genug Geld zusammenkommt, um unser Jugendteam nach San Francisco schicken zu können, wird es für unser Mini-Team ab einer gewissen Überweisungszahl überaus mühsam, Rücküberweisungen auszuführen. Deshalb soll das Geld in diesem Fall förderungswürdigen Jugendprojekten im Segeln zukommen. Bewerbungen gehen an SR und die Leser stimmen ab. Den Rahmen dafür müssten wir noch entwickeln, wenn die Teilnahme am RBYAC tatsächlich scheitert.
Zurzeit recherchieren die Jungs noch das genau benötigte Budget. Ein Gesamtbetrag von 80.000 Euro steht im Raum, um in SF einen gewissen Grad der Konkurrenzfähigkeit zu erreichen. Der schließt die Mitreise von Coach Markus Koy ein. Die genauen Posten für das Budget wird hier wir immer wieder aktualisiert. Die erste Hürde soll ein Betrag von knapp 16.000 Euro für Versicherung und Deposit sein. Er muss innerhalb von drei Wochen überwiesen werden.
Ehrlicher Beitrag
Beim Thema Geld wird es ernst. Es geht hier auch um die Glaubwürdigkeit von SR und wir hoffen, dass unsere Motivation für die Mithilfe als ehrlicher Beitrag zu dem Projekt gesehen wir. So wollen wir selber mit der SegelReporter Verlag GmbH 1.000 Euro in den Topf geben.
Wir halten die Story des Youth Teams, das neben absoluter Hingabe für diesen Traum auch das notwendige Leistungspotenzial mitbringt, für so spannend, dass daraus eine der schönsten deutschen Segelgeschichten entstehen kann.
SR wird regelmäßig über die Fortschritte berichten und die Segler vorstellen. Dabei hoffen wir, dass die Community nur einen Teil des Budgets aufbringen muss. Erste Gespräche mit potenziellen Sponsoren sollen vielversprechend verlaufen sein.
Andreas fühlt sich bei dem Thema besonders an seine Mitgründung des ersten deutschen America’s Cup Projektes erinnert. Er entwickelte das Fresh17 Konzept, bei der Deutschland mit einheimischen Nachwuchskräften für Furore sorgen sollte. Allerdings wurde aus der geplanten positiven Underdog Kampagne nach dem Einstieg von Sponsor United Internet ein etwas problematischer Profi-Auftritt mit hohem Anspruch und nicht erfüllten Hoffnungen.
Diese Gefahr sollte den deutschen Jugendseglern nicht drohen. Ihr positiver Spirit könnte den gesamten deutschen Segelsport beflügeln. Wir alle sind gespannt, wie begeisterungsfähig die deutsche Segel-Community ist. Mal sehen, wie weit der Weg führen kann.
Der deutsche Auftritt beim Red Bull Youth America’s Cup
49er Segler Erik Heil (23, Kiel), Max Böhme (21, Kiel) Justus Schmidt (20, Schönwalde), die Lasersegler Philipp Buhl (23, Sonthofen) und Max Kohlhoff (19, Kiel), 470er Segler David Heitzig (22, Hamburg) und der Big-Boat Spezialist Michael Seifarth (20, Unterwössen) qualifizierten sich in einem schnellen Casting-Verfahren in Südfrankreich für das deutsche Team.
Nach nur einem Trainingstag auf einem Extreme 40 Katamaran räumte niemand dem zusammengewürfelten Team Germany bei der Qualifikation für den Red Bull Youth America’s Cup in San Francisco eine Chance ein. Aber es überzeugte die Juroren vor Ort durch Spitzenwerte bei den Fitness-Tests und durch eine enorm steile Lernkurve beim Segeln der neuartigen Flügel-Katamarane.
Unter der Führung von Starboot-Vorschoter und North Sails Segelmacher Markus Koy lieferte die Mannschaft eine nicht für möglich gehaltene Leistung ab und konnte sogar die Rennen seiner Qualifikationsgruppe gegen deutlich besser vorbereitete Teams gewinnen. Dabei zeigte sich das Potenzial der Kombination zweier der weltbesten Steuerleute im 49er (Heil) und Laser (Buhl) als besonders leistungsfördernd.
